Havana’s heritage and architectural wealth are one of a kind. On this tour we will leave from Varadero and make it to Havana’s historical center, walking through its iconic squares and main streets such as Revolution Square and the Capitol Building, and the Cathedral Square, making stops for museums and classic bars such as La Bodeguita del Medio, the birthplace of the Mojito. After lunch at a typical Cuban cuisine restaurant, we will drive through the modern Art Deco neighborhood of Vedado for more sightseeing.
Discover the many facets of Havana, which is unquestionably one of the richest and most mysterious architectural treasures of the Americas. We will pick you up from your Varadero hotel early in the morning. The first stop will be at the Morro Cabaña Fortress dating back to the 18th century. Sitting across from the Havana harbor, it offers a magnificent view of the Havana’s skyline. We’ll then drive through the Havana harbor tunnel into Old Havana to start the historical walking tour. You’ll have a chance to see the ancient presidential Palace, Central Square, the Capitol Building, Old Square, Plaza de Armas, Cathedral Square, San Francisco de Assis Square, and the museum “Palacio de Los Capitanes Generales.” The grace of Havana’s historic core is palpable in these places, where you’ll also follow in the footsteps of the famous writer Ernest Hemingway by visiting the Ambos Mundos Hotel where he used to stay, and visit the Floridita bar and the La Bodeguita del Medio, two of Hemingway’s favorite bars and the birthplaces of the daiquiri and mojito, You’ll have free time to explore an arts and crafts market, shop for souvenirs and gifts, and interact with local craftsmen. We’ll stop for lunch at a traditional Cuban restaurant before continuing towards the cultural center of Vedado where you’ll see the historic University of Havana, the empowering Revolution Square and appreciate Vedado’s modernist and Art Deco architecture before heading back to your hotel in Varadero.
