What to do in Cuba in April?

Every month our team handpicks the best Cuban events and happenings for you. As temperatures finally start to rise, April is finally the time to go to the beach, start exploring nature and spend more time outdoors. Here’s our April must do´s:

Traditional Music from the 50s Show
Nights start getting hotter, and while dancing in a nightclub is always a fun idea, perhaps you’d like to try something more unique to our heritage. We recommend instead a traditional dinner, a 50’s music show, and a short demonstration of dancing steps at Rosalia de Castro, located in the heart of ancient Old Havana. Every night Rosalia de Castro opens its large outdoor restaurant and music venue for performances by some of the greatest musicians, such as members of the Buena Vista Social Club, who stop by regularly to give you a ride through time, taking you back to mid-20th century, the birthplace of traditional songs such as “Que rico mambo” or “Que bueno baila usted”. Before the show, we invite you to enjoy a romantic dinner under the twinkling stars and pleasant April breeze. It gets very crowded, so we recommend you reserve your tickets in advance!

Day Tour to Guama:
April is the best month to explore the Ciénaga de Zapata peninsula, one of our most biodiverse national parks. You’ll visit a crocodile farm and learn about the important role of his reptile in our ecosystem, then ride a boat through rivers and lagoons, to watch the green of the most breathtaking natural reserves. You’ll stop at the Guama Touristic Center where a typical Taino aborigine village was perfectly recreated to show how Cuban aborigines once lived. And right when the day couldn’t be any better, we take you to Punta Perdiz for snorkeling and to enjoy a tropical cocktail before returning to Havana. Book your Guama day tour here

 Authentic vintage car experience
It´s not a secret that Havana has been the cradle of the vintage American cars for almost a century. Now you can interact with the mechanics whose daily job is to restore these relics at this recently-opened to the public vintage car workshop. The mechanics will share their stories about their daily job, exposing you to genuine Cuban life.  After the car shop visit, you’ll go on a city tour of Old and Modern Havana on one of these perfectly-maintained automobiles. Sea Tour from Varadero
April means the days are longer, allowing for more outdoor time. If you’re staying in Varadero for a few days, we suggest you take a day to explore deeper waters and coral reefs in this catamaran cruise. You’ll sail off to Cayo Blanco for the day, where you’ll interact with dolphins, snorkel in a coral reef, and enjoy a seafood lunch and lots of time for swimming and recreation before returning to Varadero during the sunset.
